Love these boots!

I wore these every day on a weeklong trip, walking many miles on trails and city sidewalks. My feet felt better than they have in any other boots I've ever worn. I've had trouble with plantar fasciitis and have been dealing with a bad case for months. Wearing these boots with Powerstep insoles has been a gamechanger. I can also vouch for their waterproofness. I walked in a creek that came halfway up the boots and had no water get in. This is a great boot at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended!

Hiking Satisfaction

Originally posted on Merrell

Yes, I recommend this

This seems like a well-constructed hiking boot. I believe the boots run very slightly larger (maybe 1/4 size larger) and wider than standard, but that is what I wanted. Boot is reasonably comfortable, but doesn't have a lot of padding underfoot. Sole offers good traction and laces remain tied. I haven't tested the boots in wet conditions and can't comment on water-proofing. Definitely will purchase again.

Terrible Fit

Originally posted on Merrell

No, I don't recommend this

I'll never buy Merrell again. On my second pair now and the same thing happened as the first pair. Fit just fine when you first put them on and wear a few times then they start stretching out and don't fit like they did after exchange period runs out. I wear a 13 and these now fit like a 13.5, or 14. Foot just swimming in them now. Worthless.

Rolling along

The Moab 3 fits like a comfortable glove. Has a unique rolling affect as my foot contacts the ground eliminating shock instead of a flat surface making contact. The shoe is very stable on even terrain. I highly recommend this shoe.

My go-to hikers

Originally posted on Merrell

The Moab 3 Gore-Tex mid is just right for mountain hiking and backpacking. The Gore Tex liner lets my feet breathe and keeps water out. The boot has the right combination of light weight with and ankle support. I use these on everything from day hikes to week long backpacking trips with a 40 lb pack. They dry quickly and I’ve never had a blister or even a hot spot.

After 10 years, the Inca trail in Peru, Camino de Santiago in Portugal and Spain, 3x on top of Mt. Marcy(tallest peak in the Adirondacks and several hundred miles on trails around the Finger Lakes they finally had a blowout. Ordered a new pair of Moab 3 gtx but am skeptical if they will last as long with all the mesh in them. Maybe they will be ok. 77 and still hiking and biking.

I've been wearing these boots every day since I bought them and have had zero issue. They fit perfectly, and I have not felt any bit of discomfort climbing up 2 mountains already. Overall, a worthy boot, but only time will tell how well they last.

Walked them 54 miles in Ireland out of the box.

Ive been wearing the Merrell Moab2 and Moab3 for years. Shoe fit has always been a problem for me and when I find something that works, I stay with it. Merrell Moab's fit right out of the box. I'm a size 12 and generally they feel a little tight and cramped when I first put them on, but after an afternoon's walk they fit like a glove. This past year I upgraded to the Gore-Tex as the waterproof ones are find for a light rain, but if you think you're going to get wet: get the Gore-Tex. These shoes are so comfortable and adaptable to road and trail that my wife and I walked them in Ireland this past spring for 54 miles on the Dingle Way and she's 77 and I'm 66 - absolutely no foot problems. I love box the Mid and Low version of these shoes: I wear the low ankle version in the office as I'm on my feet 12 hours a day. (In fact, I came here to buy another pair when asked to place this review. :) ) The shoes hold up, the uppers and hardware have never failed me. If there's anything to note, it's the same issue with all shoes like this with a high vibram content for cushioning: the lugs wear fast compared to a harder sole shoe. But that's what makes taking these down an asphalt road between trails such a delight. So, I take the trade off. NOTE: if you have any kind of ankle pronation, etc, where you're using some kind of compromise support insole - address that with a high quality Super Feet or ProSteps insole and replace the stock insole and your shoes will last much longer. The Moab's will compensate for pronation well and protect you from injury, but it's coming to come at the cost of unevenly wearing off the back lugs and prematurely aging your shoe. At the price of the shoe and the fact that that hardware and uppers last so long, it is definitely worth using an independent solution to save the sole from early wear. Long story short: love these shoes.

Perfect Fit in Size 15 Comfortable and Lightweight

Originally posted on Merrell

I couldn’t be happier with the Merrell Moab 3 Mid GORE-TEX hiking boots. Finding a size 15 that truly fits well can be challenging, but these fit perfectly right out of the box. No pinching, no awkward pressure points—just a comfortable, secure fit. The construction feels solid and well thought out. They’re durable without feeling bulky, and surprisingly lightweight for a mid-height waterproof hiking boot. The GORE-TEX lining keeps my feet dry without making them overheat, which makes a big difference on longer hikes. Whether I’m doing a casual trail walk or a more strenuous hike with uneven terrain, they provide excellent support and comfort. Great traction, stable feel, and all-day wearability. Highly recommended, especially for anyone who wears larger sizes and struggles to find the right fit.

Bought for disc golf

Originally posted on Merrell

Great traction & water proof for hiking on disc golf course. Good ankle support. Good toe & heel protection. Great hiking boot. Sole & sidewalls are too rigid & heavy for proper movement & feel when teeing off. Heel also too tall. Merrell gave these away in some of the tournament players packs last year. If Merrell truly wants to cater to the disc golf community, they need to make this same shoe in a lighter weight with a flat sole. Make a shoe specific for the sport. I wear trail running shoes for disc golf now but they suck. They don't have enough ankle support. Need a cross between the two.

Tested in the most unlikely terrain...

Originally posted on Merrell

These bad boys were battle-tested in the concrete jungle where dreams are made of… New York City. The journey kicked off on a wooded trail lined with dogwoods near Lincroft, leading us to the NJ Transit station and straight into the city, destination: Penn Station. From there, it was a full-send NYC day. We hiked the Brooklyn Bridge, ferried back past Pier 11, cruised Staten Island, and passed within a few hundred yards of Lady Liberty. The route continued through SoHo, climbed high along the High Line into the Chelsea galleries, and wrapped up in the electric chaos of Times Square — just as a major rainstorm broke loose. Through it all, these Moabs didn’t flinch. Streets and gutters. Rocky beaches and ferry decks. Elevated walkways, marble-floored art galleries and churches. Cobblestones, sticky restaurant pizza greased carpets, and rain-soaked Times Square grime; they handled it all without hesitation. From quiet trails to nonstop city miles, these Moabs proved they’re built for wherever the day takes you; no excuses, no shortcuts, just keep moving, cause there’s nothin’ you can’t do.
